Job summary

Pinnacle Treatment Centers, Inc. in Buford, GA is seeking a Counselor Assistant/Intern to support patients with comprehensive psychological therapy under supervision.

You will assist with intakes, treatment planning, records, and group sessions while adhering to federal and state standards. The role requires a GED or higher and certification milestones within specified timelines; you will participate in ongoing training and have access to a comprehensive benefits package and loan repayment

Qualifications

• GED / high school diploma or higher
• Certified as a Counselor in Training (CCIT) within 90 days of hire
• Full certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC I or higher) through the Georgia board or NCC within three years of hire

Responsibilities

• Ensure completion of patient databases, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other essential documentation in accordance with federal and state standards.
• Provide patients with orientation regarding program objectives, phase system requirements, rules and regulations, sanctions, hours of services, patient rights, and additional information to help patients adjust to the program.
• Assess and place each patient according to treatment phases in accordance with standards and policies.
• Update clinical documentation and patient charts according to policies.
• Counsel patients in crisis situations by identifying resources and coping abilities.
• Counsel patients who have refused to comply with program requirements to increase awareness of consequences.
• Arrange referrals to community resources when appropriate.
• Participate in case conferences and reviews.
• Develop knowledge of confidentiality, methadone treatment, and counseling certification regulations.
• Submit all internal and external correspondence to supervisor for review.
• Complete intakes and facilitate group counseling sessions.
• Collect and test urine drug screens following proper chain of custody.
• Secure necessary documentation to ensure policy compliance.
• Submit monthly and quarterly statistical reports to supervisor.
• Attend team meetings and complete required training.
• Other duties as assigned
