Job summary

The Counselor Assistant at Jackson Correctional Institution in Malone, FL supports clients’ activities, maintains records, and coordinates with the treatment team to promote safety and engagement.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma and at least two years in behavioral health, with strong communication and de-escalation skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency.
• Two years of prior experience in the behavioral health field.
• Knowledge of the physical, cognitive and psychosocial functioning level of the client population; ability to interact and tailor interventions.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact with treatment team and clients.

Responsibilities

• Supervises clients' therapeutic and recreational activities and monitors movement and behavior.
• Provides didactic sessions after internal training and may present chemical dependency education.
• Guides clients in complying with Center rules and initiates routines.
• Maintains and updates client records and documents progress.
• Serves as part of the treatment team and helps coordinate client interactions and plans.
• Performs office and technical duties such as answering phones, filing, and planning events.
