Job summary

Center for Victims in Pittsburgh seeks a Counselor Advocate for our Call Center to join our team. The Counselor Advocate, Call Center, serves as a gateway by answering incoming calls to CV’s Hotline and providing crisis counseling, support, information, and other mandatory and supportive crime victim services.

The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a rotating shift between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and some holiday shifts may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, or related field, or an Associate’s degree with five years related work.
  • MS Office proficiency, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication, problem-solving, and ability to interface professionally with internal and external groups.
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission and ability to work in a diverse environment with sensitivity to diversity and workplace harmony.

Responsibilities

  • Offer immediate access, referral and support to CV services by conducting an initial assessment to determine needs and appropriate services.
  • Crisis intervention and counseling.
  • Offender Release Notification.
  • Other services as required for crime victims.
  • Provide mandated and supportive services to crime victims.

POSITION: COUNSELOR ADVOCATE, CALL CENTER

CV is seeking a Counselor Advocate in our Call Centerto join our team! The Counselor Advocate, Call Center serves as a gateway to the organization by answering incoming calls to CV’s Hotline and providing crisis counseling, support, information, and other mandatory and supportive crime victim services. The Counselor Advocate, Call Center works 40 hours per week, with a varying shift between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday-Friday. Some holiday shifts may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Offer of immediate access, referral and support to all agency services by conducting an initial assessment to determine the individual’s needs and the appropriate service;
    • Crisis intervention/counseling
    • Offender Release Notification
    • Other Services
  • Mandated and supportive services to crime victims

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, or a related field or an Associate’s degree in the same fields with five years minimum related work
  • MS Office proficiency, strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while effectively meeting deadlines in a fast paced and evolving organization
  • Oral and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to interface professionally with internal and external groups
  • Strong commitment to support the organization’s mission and the ability to work in a diverse atmosphere with sensitivity of cultural diversity and workplace harmony
