Job summary

The Keeton Corrections, Inc is seeking a Counselor to assist the Treatment Director in program planning, resident chart maintenance, and provision of client services in accordance with NPI policies. The role supports contractual requirements and ongoing treatment planning.

Responsibilities include maintaining documentation, conducting weekly individual counseling, facilitating groups, and collaborating with agencies to advance resident care.

Qualifications

• Approval of DOC.
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in counseling, social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation; special education, health education, or a related human services field, OR

Responsibilities

• Maintain a 15-resident caseload.
• Serve as liaison with community as needed.
• Facilitate intervention/motivational groups for residents with special needs.
• Maintain documentation of individual resident's behaviors in resident charts.
• Educate residents in group and individual settings about addictions.
• Maintain and evaluate therapeutic records, including, but not limited to social assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, treatment plan updates, and discharge summaries.
• Conduct weekly supportive individual counseling sessions.
• Assist in Quality Assurance Program as stated in NPI Policy and Procedures.
• Meet case management and counseling needs of the residents.
• Assist the Treatment Director in developing and maintaining cooperative agreements, relationships, and liaisons with directors, department heads, etc. of other agencies on local, state, and federal levels.
• Actively participate in professional and/or correctional associations/organizations to keep informed on emerging developments and issues that aid in the improvement and effectiveness of the facility.
• Continue professional education and growth through such avenues as training workshops, conferences, and other appropriate means.
• Assist with other duties as deemed necessary by the Director.

Education

The Counselor is responsible for assisting the Treatment Director in program planning/development and maintenance of resident charts consistent with approved policies, procedures, guidelines, and programs of NPI. Responsible for providing client services and working with the Treatment Director towards meeting contractual agreements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Approval of DOC.
• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in counseling, social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation; special education, health education, or a related human services field, OR
• Current Certification as a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP), OR Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC).
