Job summary

Keeton Corrections, Inc. seeks a Counselor to support the Treatment Director in program planning and maintenance of resident charts in line with approved policies and NPI programs. You will provide client services and help meet contractual obligations.

Responsibilities include managing a 15-resident caseload, facilitating groups, documenting progress, educating residents about addictions, and maintaining therapeutic records; QA participation and professional development are also expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation or related human services field.
• CAP or CAC certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a 15-resident caseload.
• Serve as liaison with community as needed.
• Facilitate intervention/motivational groups for residents with special needs.
• Maintain documentation of individual resident’s behaviors in resident charts.
• Educate residents in group and individual settings about addictions.
• Maintain and evaluate therapeutic records, including social assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, updates, and discharge summaries.
• Conduct weekly supportive individual counseling sessions.
• Assist in Quality Assurance Program as stated in NPI Policy and Procedures.
• Meet case management and counseling needs of the residents.
• Assist the Treatment Director in developing and maintaining cooperative agreements with other agencies at local, state, and federal levels.
• Participate in professional/correctional associations to stay informed on developments.
• Continue professional education and growth through workshops and conferences.
• Assist with other duties as deemed necessary by the Director.

Description

The Counselor is responsible for assisting the Treatment Director in program planning/development and maintenance of resident charts consistent with approved policies, procedures, guidelines, and programs of NPI. Responsible for providing client services and working with the Treatment Director towards meeting contractual agreements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Approval of DOC.
• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in counseling, social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation; special education, health education, or a related human services field, OR
• Current Certification as a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP), OR Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC).

• Continue professional education and growth through such avenues as training workshops, conferences, and other appropriate means.
