The primary focus of the school counselor is to assist students whose emotional/ social problems interfere with their ability to obtain maximum benefit from the educational program. The counselor may also act as a liaison between parents/ guardians, school, and public or private agencies responsible for student care and services in order to assist parents in taking advantage of services available in the school and community. Serve as a mentor to less experienced counselors; serve on Leona-wide crisis response teams to provide support to other schools in the event of major incidents of crisis.
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
