Overview
Legal.io is seeking an experienced Creator Content Counsel to support the content legal team of a leading global social media and technology platform.
This role will focus on content licensing, creator partnerships, production agreements, sponsorships, promotions, and other commercial content initiatives. Working closely with the company’s existing Creator Content attorney, you will provide practical legal guidance that enables innovative content programs while managing legal risk in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
This is a business-facing role focused on creator and content partnerships—not Trust & Safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial content agreements, including content licensing, creator, influencer, sponsorship, production, development, publisher, agency, and brand partnership agreements
- Support legal review of promotions, sweepstakes, contests, and marketing campaigns, including drafting official rules and reviewing promotional materials
- Provide practical legal advice that balances business objectives with legal and regulatory requirements
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Communications, Marketing, and other cross-functional stakeholders throughout the product and partnership lifecycle
- Identify legal risks and develop pragmatic solutions to support new creator and content initiatives
- Embed with cross-functional teams to provide ongoing legal support as products and partnerships evolve
- Leverage generative AI tools to develop templates, playbooks, workflows, and other process improvements that increase legal team efficiency
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership in good standing
- Approximately 5–7 years of commercial legal experience
- Significant experience negotiating content licensing, creator, media, entertainment, or commercial partnership agreements
- Prior experience supporting a social media platform, digital media company, streaming platform, or creator-focused technology business
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent business judgment and ability to provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- High emotional intelligence and strong cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting creator economy, influencer marketing, digital media, or user-generated content initiatives
- Experience negotiating publisher, agency, sponsorship, and brand collaboration agreements
- Prior in-house experience at a technology, media, or social media company
- Familiarity with product counseling and supporting cross-functional product development teams
- Comfortable working within Google Workspace and modern collaboration platforms
- Familiarity with tools such as Zendesk, Glean, and Helix is a plus
- Experience using generative AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini to improve legal workflows, drafting efficiency, and knowledge management
