Humana Inc. is seeking an experienced Counsel to provide a full range of legal advice and services. The Counsel independently manages affirmative litigation and recovery matters for the company, overseeing subrogation, mass tort, restitution, product recalls, and fraud recoveries.
The role also involves managing outside counsel, collaborating with internal business partners and law department colleagues, and clearly communicating strategy and outcomes to stakeholders. A J.D.
The Counsel provides a full range of legal advice and services. The Counsel work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. The Counsel is an attorney who independently manages affirmative litigation and recovery matters on behalf of the company. The Counsel will manage a portfolio of recovery cases — including subrogation, mass tort claims filings, restitution, small provider and pharmacy recoveries, product recalls, breach of contract, and fraud recoveries. The Counsel will manage outside counsel and vendor relationships and collaborate with internal business partners and law department colleagues. The Counsel will exercise independent judgment and take full ownership of legal matters. In this position, you must have the ability to perform sophisticated legal analysis, evaluate the financial viability of potential recovery actions, and clearly communicate with business partners and other stakeholders. Location: preference for candidates located in Louisville, KY or Chicago, IL but remote/work at home location acceptable for qualified candidates.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$138,900 - $191,000 per year This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
