Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Counsel to provide a full range of legal advice and services. The Counsel will manage investigations, both internal and government, and handle complex litigation with outside counsel.

You will exercise independent judgment, prioritize risk mitigation, and communicate clearly with business partners. The role supports a hybrid or fully remote work model, with preference for Louisville, KY or Chicago, IL but remote work is acceptable for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active and licensed membership in a state bar association.
• At least 5 years of experience managing investigations or complex litigation.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple matters simultaneously.

The Counsel work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.The Counsel is an attorney who manages investigations and litigation on behalf of the company. The Counsel will manage a portfolio of both internal investigations and government investigations and will work to proactively identify opportunities to mitigate risk. The Counsel will also manage complex litigation matters and will collaborate with internal clients and outside counsel on all aspects of litigation and case strategy. The Counsel will exercise independent judgment and decision making on investigation and litigation issues and related tasks and take full ownership of legal matters with modest to minimal supervision.
