Job summary

Litchford Falls Health & Rehabilitation Center in Raleigh, NC is seeking a qualified Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team and provide hands-on care to residents.

You will implement treatment plans, assist with ADLs, train on adaptive equipment, document progress, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to achieve rehab goals. This role offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Active unencumbered licensure or certification as a COTA in North Carolina.
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • NBCOT certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled occupational therapy services to residents under the supervision and direction of a licensed OT.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising OT to help residents achieve rehabilitation goals.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, bathing, grooming, feeding, and toileting.
  • Administer therapeutic activities, exercises, and modalities to improve fine motor skills, upper extremity function, coordination, and strength.
  • Train residents on the use of adaptive equipment, assistive devices, and compensatory techniques to promote independence.
  • Explain procedures and treatments to gain residents’ cooperation and allay apprehension.
  • Monitor resident progress and communicate observations and treatment outcomes to the supervising OT.
  • Maintain residents’ medical records with thorough documentation of treatments provided, progress notes, and response to therapy.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and successful achievement of rehabilitation goals.
  • Educate residents and their families on therapeutic techniques, safety precautions, and strategies to maintain progress after discharge.
  • Observe emotional stability of residents, express interest in their progress, and prepare them for continuing care after discharge.
  • Perform other duties as required to provide exceptional care to each resident.
