Job summary

SSM Health Day Institute in Olivette, MO, is seeking a qualified Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our outpatient rehabilitation program. The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with compensation of $23/hour, dependent on experience, in a collaborative setting.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's Degree in an OT Assistant program required.
• Current and valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) required.
• CPR certification.
• Class E license allowing for the operation of the shuttle bus prior to the start date.
• Preferred: CPR certification, First aid certification, outpatient physical therapy center experience.

Responsibilities

• COTAs perform patient-related tasks assigned by the therapist, including but not limited to: assist with therapy plan of care in the Day Room Settings.
• Delegate and direct support personnel to enhance patient care services.
• Participate in education of patients, families, coworkers, and self.
• Assist patients to/from mats, wheelchairs and with transfer activities.
• Engage with patients to support therapeutic goals in individual and group settings.
• Documentation and billing/charging of skilled activities as applicable.

COTAs perform patient-related tasks assigned by the therapist, including but not limited to:

• Under the direct supervision of licensed OT, assists with the implementation of therapy plan of care in the Day Room Setting
• Responsible for delegation an direction of support personnel for those assigned patients, in order to enhance patient care services in the Day Room Setting
• Participates in education of patients, families, coworkers, and self
• Performs other professional duties associated with the care of the patient, within the scope of practice
• Assists patients to/from mats, wheelchairs, other equipment as appropriate; assist patients with transfer activities
• Assists with patient-related treatment activities as appropriate
• Engages with patients, supporting therapeutic goals in individual and group settings; Task initiation and group facilitation
• Documentation and billing/charging of skilled activities as applicable
• Upgrading and downgrading tasks for patient engagement
• Plans and transports for Community Reintegration Outings
• Maintains the clinic and clinic equipment in a clean and orderly condition
• Transports patients to /from therapy as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Associate's Degree in an OT Assistant program required
• Current and valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) required
• Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
• Class E license allowing for the operation of the shuttle bus prior to the start date.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy center
