Job summary

Sigma Health Rehab in Buffalo, NY seeks a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join the rehabilitation team in our center. The role supports residents under the supervision of an OT and emphasizes functional daily activities and adaptive techniques.

Successful candidates will hold an NY OTA license; prior geriatric care experience is preferred but new graduates with related experience are welcome. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited OTA Program.
• Current New York State OTA License.
• Experience in a skilled nursing or geriatric care setting is preferred, but new graduates with relevant experience are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Select therapy activities that follow the plan of care set out by the supervising occupational therapist.
• Assist residents in carrying out daily activities.
• Monitor residents' performance in therapy activities, provide encouragement and document on residents as needed.
• Teach residents how to use special equipment to assist with daily function.
• Collaborate with the OT to establish a rehabilitation plan.
• Maintain a cooperative relationship among healthcare team members.
• Apply evidence-based practices consistent with the standards of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
