Job summary

Sigma Health Rehab is seeking a full-time Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/OTA) to join our skilled nursing facility in New York. The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited OTA program and currently licensed in New York, with prior SNF/geriatric experience preferred.

Under supervision of the OT, you will select activities, assist residents with daily tasks, teach use of adaptive equipment, and contribute to rehabilitation plans.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited OTA program.
• Current New York State OTA license.
• Experience in skilled nursing/geriatric care preferred; new grads with relevant experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Select therapy activities per plan of care by supervising OT.
• Assist residents in daily activities.
• Monitor residents' performance, document progress, and provide encouragement.
• Teach residents how to use equipment to assist daily function.
• Collaborate with OT to establish rehabilitation plan.
• Maintain cooperative relationships among healthcare team.
• Adhere to evidence-based practices per AOTA standards.
