Job summary

Waverly Rehabilitation And Healthcare Center in Waverly, VA is seeking a full-time COTA to join our on-site rehab team. You will provide comprehensive occupational therapy under the supervision of an OTR and collaborate with a multidisciplinary staff.

Responsibilities include documenting progress, obtaining orders, coordinating scheduling, and supporting patients and families. SNF experience and an active VA license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited university with a BA or AS degree in Occupational Therapy that is recognized by the AOTA.
• Holds current license and/or registration in the state (as applicable).
• SNF experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive treatment to patients under the supervision of an OTR and according to state guidelines.
• Assist OT in identifying appropriate patients and referring them to rehab accordingly.
• Document patient’s daily participation and progress on progress note in an accurate and timely fashion, with co-signature by the OTR.
• Ensure MD orders are obtained for treatments, re-certifications and discharges.
• Attend facility and rehab meetings as directed by Supervisor.
• Act as a rehab delegate to the interdisciplinary team.
• Participate in scheduling of patients.
• Complete billing logs and bill patients ethically and accurately for OT services.
• Cover other therapists’ patient caseload during absences as necessary.
• Supervise junior COTA staff members or students as needed.
• Maintain professional relationships with staff, patients and families.
• Provide in-service education regarding patient care to rehab staff and facility personnel.

Bachelor of Arts in Occupational Therapy
