Job summary

San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team. You will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide skilled therapy to residents.

The ideal candidate is dependable, resident-focused, and committed to helping individuals improve independence and quality of life.

Qualifications

• Current New York State licensure to practice as a COTA.
• Graduate of an accredited OTA program.
• Current CPR certification.
• Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, or geriatric care preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy treatments according to established plans of care.
• Assist residents in activities of daily living (dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, mobility).
• Implement therapeutic exercises and activities to improve strength, coordination, balance, endurance and independence.
• Monitor progress and report changes to supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Document treatments and resident responses accurately for regulatory and reimbursement purposes.
• Educate residents, families, and staff on therapeutic techniques and safety.
