Job summary

Weber State University is seeking a Costume Studio Assistant to support the on-campus Costume Studio in Ogden, UT. The role involves cleaning, organizing the costume closet, and assisting with construction of costumes (sewing, cutting, patterning, dyeing), crafts, fittings, and helping practicum students meet show deadlines.

Hours are 20 per week or less, for nine months per year. May require late nights and Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Theater majors required.
• At least 1 year of sewing experience.
• Able to operate a sewing machine and construct clothing with minimal supervision.
• Willing to learn more about the construction process and improve.
• Willing to organize and clean.
• Willing to work some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all Costume Studio duties including cleaning and organization of the costume closet.
• Construct costumes through sewing, cutting, patterning and dyeing.
• Create costume crafts (hats, shoes, specialty items) and fittings.
• Assist practicum students in the studio and help meet show deadlines.
• May be required to work some late nights and Saturdays.
