Job summary

The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis is seeking a Stitcher to join the Production - Costumes department. The Stitcher constructs and alters costumes in collaboration with the work team, ensuring precision and adherence to the designer's vision.

You will work with the Draper/Tailor and First Hand, create mock-ups, finish garments, and maintain a safe, organized workroom. This union-covered role requires strong sewing skills, fabric knowledge, and a collaborative spirit.

Qualifications

• Experience as a dressmaker or tailor or equivalent training.
• Operate industrial sewing machine and serger.
• Expert garment construction skills with pressing.
• Knowledge of fabrics and sewing techniques.
• Ability to lift 20 lbs and maintain safety.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusive teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Construct and alter costumes in collaboration with the work team.
• Receive stitching assignments from the Draper/Tailor and First Hand; create mock-ups; finish and press garments.
• Maintain costume workroom and equipment; support department initiatives.
