Job Title: Cost Manager/Quantity Surveyor

Responsibilities:

1. Advising clients on strategies, managing prequalification of vendors, assessing proposals, bids, and bid leveling documents, making final recommendations to the client, attending & chairing bid interviews, and managing the appointment process.
2. Managing estimating services for full projects by developing project estimates (relating to construction, fees, direct work, and other costs), reviewing estimations prepared by junior team members, presenting estimates to clients, providing value engineering recommendations and risk assessments, meeting with vendors to review and validate costs, and reviewing estimates using benchmark data.
3. Managing cost reporting by establishing reporting schedules, reviewing & presenting cost reports and forecasts, reviewing project budgets & spend forecasts with clients, developing & maintaining a commercial risk register, and hosting periodic meetings with project teams & vendors.
4. Managing the cost control process by reviewing payment applications prepared by junior team members, liaising with project managers to recommend contractor entitlements, reviewing change order requests from vendors & making recommendations to clients, and managing dispute prevention, management, and resolution procedures related to payment requisitions, change orders, and contractual disputes.
5. Monitoring invoicing processes.
6. Benchmarking project performance against other successful projects.
7. Managing all aspects of final accounting processes, including post-contract audits and account close-outs.
8. Conducting post-contract reviews with clients to establish lessons learned and applying these lessons to create training manuals.
9. Developing procedures for project handover.
10. Utilizing tools such as Bid Analysis Sheets, Change Control Forms, Cost Estimating Software, and Take-off Software for all duties.
11. Adhering to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience in a cost management role within the construction industry.
• RICS accreditation or working towards it is valuable.
• Experience supporting cost management on medium to large construction projects.
• Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
• Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
• Strong communication skills.
