Job summary

Jobtailor in Washington, DC seeks an experienced Cost Analyst to prepare estimates and cost plans, drive value engineering, and manage cost control reporting. You will engage with clients and design teams, contributing to risk management and change control processes.

The role requires a degree in a cost/construction field, 2+ years in cost management, and strong proficiency with CostX and MS Office. Some in-person collaboration is expected to build client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Data Analytics, or another cost/construction field.
  • 2+ years of minimum cost management experience.
  • Experience with hyper-scale data centers is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of the construction process and management techniques, methods, and materials.
  • Proficient in CostX to produce estimates and bills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) at an appropriate level.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Organized and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates and cost plans using benchmarking data.
  • Develop value engineering and life cycle costing options to improve efficiency.
  • Identify risks and maintain the project Risk Register.
  • Contribute to pre-contract meetings with cost insights.
  • Create and manage cost control reports to track financial performance.
  • Attend client meetings with senior colleagues and document discussions and actions.
  • Participate in design team meetings to assess cost implications and implement outcomes.
  • Assist in developing standardized project templates for consistent documentation.
  • Prepare and manage change order logs, invoice logs, and detailed cost reports.
  • Oversee measurements and pricing research for development appraisals and qualification reviews.
  • Provide some in-person collaboration time for relationship building with clients and peers.

  • Proficient in the use of advanced functions in CostX to produce estimates, bills, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint) at an appropriate level.
