EPC Project Management Consulting, LLC is hiring a Data Center Cost Manager to oversee all cost management activities for a major hyperscale client. The role is remote with periodic travel to Abilene, TX and other sites as needed.

Responsibilities include developing budgets, analyzing costs, and managing change orders. Requires 7–10 years in cost management within construction or data centers, plus strong negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management or equivalent.
• 7–10 years cost management experience in construction, oil/gas, or data center sectors.

Responsibilities

• Oversee project cost management from pre-construction to closeout.
• Produce project-level cost reports and benchmarking analyses.
• Develop and maintain project budgets from design concept to completion.
• Assist with change order management including estimation, negotiation, tracking costs.
• Reconcile data with client fiscal/financial controls.
• Manage payment applications and invoicing.
• Present cost data to stakeholders and team members.

Job description

EPC Project Management Consulting is seeking to hire an experienced and detail-oriented Data Center Cost Manager to join our team, serving a prominent hyperscale data center client in Abilene, TX. This role would be remote with a couple of days travel every 2/3 weeks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all cost management activities, ensuring that the project remains within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide support to Project Teams throughout the project lifecycle from pre-construction to closeout.
• Produce accurate project-level reports that provide detailed analysis of project cost, program estimates, program master planning, operations, and benchmarking.
• Develop and maintain project budgets from design concept through project completion.
• Assist with the change order management process, including estimating, negotiating, and tracking total project costs.
• Reconcile program and project controls data with the client’s fiscal and financial control systems.
• Manage payment applications and invoice management for the project.
• Develop and present key cost data to internal and external stakeholders and team members.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, OR a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in cost management, preferably within the construction, oil/gas, or data center industries.
• Strong knowledge of cost management principles, estimating, financial analysis, and budgeting.
• Ability to read and understand design information.
• Proven ability to engage positively with client stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, and internal team members.
• Working knowledge of cost and/or resource load schedules/schedule of values.
• Experience with contract negotiation.
• Proficiency in cost management software and Google Suite.
• Experience with Quickbase and e-Builder is a plus but not mandatory.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
