Job summary

Avicado, LLP is seeking a Cost Manager to optimize project financials for hyperscale and data-center deployments. You will own budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to ensure projects meet fiscal targets while maximizing value.

Responsibilities include coordinating cost-related activities for Prime and Subcontractor scopes, driving Procore usage improvements, and enabling seamless hand-offs across Preconstruction, Construction, and Operations teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data center construction scheduling and/or project management experience.
• Deep understanding of cost drivers in data center development (MEP, electrical, cooling, IT/telecom).
• Knowledge of material costs, labor rates, and supply chain risks.
• Experience aligning cost management with scheduling, procurement, and risk management.
• Strong communication and reporting skills for developers and construction teams.
• Experience in contract support including negotiation, change order review, monthly invoicing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end cost control services including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to ensure projects are delivered within financial parameters and with maximum value.
• Project Team Collaboration: Support Project Managers by owning all cost-related processes for both Prime and Subcontractor scopes. Serve as the central point for financial coordination, allowing PMs to focus on schedule, quality, and delivery.
• Tool Optimization & Process Efficiency: Analyze current tool usage (particularly Procore) and identify opportunities for data streamlining and process improvement. Recommend and implement additional systems/tools as needed to support client objectives.
• Cross-Phase Coordination: Facilitate smooth hand-offs between Preconstruction, Construction, and Operations teams regarding cost-related matters. Attend key Preconstruction meetings to ensure knowledge continuity across project phases.
• Core Areas of Focus: Budget Development and Cost Projections, Cash Flow Management, Purchase Order Lifecycle Management, Change Order Documentation and Management.

What you’ll do…

You should have...

• Proven track record in managing costs for hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center projects.
• 5+ years of data center construction scheduling and/or project management expertise.
• Deep understanding of cost drivers in data center development, including MEP-intensive systems, high-capacity electrical infrastructure, cooling technologies, and IT/telecom integration.
• Current knowledge of material costs, labor rates, and supply chain risks in key markets.
• Experience aligning cost management with scheduling, procurement, and risk management processes.
• Strong communication and reporting skills to deliver actionable insights to developers, owners, and construction teams.
• Experience in contract support including negotiation, change order (CO) review and analysis, monthly invoicing, client billing, and change management in large, multi-stakeholder projects.
• A proactive, self-starting mindset with a high degree of ownership and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of data center or mission critical experience.
• Demonstrated success managing complex, phased scheduling strategies in high-performance projects.
