Job description

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Cost Estimator IV located in Los Angeles, CA.

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.

Required Certifications/Licenses

• Certified estimating professional credential required.

Required Qualifications

In order to be a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities:

• 15+ years of general estimating experience related to engineering and construction projects.
• Experience with On-Screen Takeoffs and Bluebeam.
• Experience managing a team of cost estimators.
• Experience with complex estimate reconciliations and change order negotiations.
• Experience obtaining independent estimates from vendors/contractors and negotiating based on these.
• Thorough knowledge of construction processes and industry practices.
• Self-starter attitude with results-oriented focus.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and work in a team environment.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized, capable of handling multiple projects.
• Experience working with outside agencies such as FAA, LADBS, LADWP, etc.

Responsibilities

Key duties include:

• Preparing independent cost estimates during project planning, design, and construction phases.
• Reviewing final engineer’s estimates, considering factors like phasing, operations, and resources.
• Developing detailed estimates from conceptual info and engineering drawings.
• Reconciling estimates with third-party evaluations and engaging in negotiations.
• Analyzing bids and aligning them with estimates.
• Leading negotiations and preparing estimates for management and stakeholders.
• Reviewing contract documents, scope changes, and cost implications.
• Documenting negotiations and providing reports and correspondence.

Salary and Benefits

• Salary range: $190,000 - $200,000 per year.
