Job Overview

We are seeking a Cost Estimator II to support our projects during planning, design, and construction phases. The role offers a pay rate of $65/hr. to $70/hr.

Essential Job Duties

1. Prepare independent cost estimates for projects during various phases.
2. Review final engineer’s estimates considering phasing, airport operations, resources, and other factors.
3. Develop detailed estimates from conceptual info or engineering drawings.
4. Prepare estimates including labor, materials, and equipment costs.
5. Provide constructability reports and assist in developing credible cost budgets.
6. Reconcile estimates with third-party estimates and communicate findings.
7. Analyze bids from vendors and contractors, and align with estimates.
8. Identify factors influencing production costs and necessary field equipment.
9. Present estimates to management and stakeholders.
10. Review material take-offs and develop detailed component estimates.
11. Evaluate historical cost data for future estimates.
12. Review contract documents for scope and cost adjustments.
13. Assist in change order negotiations, reviewing claims, scope, pricing, and mark-ups.
14. Coordinate with project management and engineering teams, and prepare reports.

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, On-Screen Takeoffs, Bluebeam, and knowledge of Prolog is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of estimating experience related to engineering and construction projects.
• Experience with estimate reconciliation and change order negotiations.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Certified estimating professional credential required.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.

Work Schedule

This position offers a hybrid/telework schedule: Telework on Monday and Friday; onsite Tuesday through Thursday. Refer to LAWA’s Pilot Policy for details.
