OCMI, Inc. in Portland, OR is seeking an electrical-focused Cost Estimator to join our team. You will perform detailed quantity take-offs, review drawings, and help develop comprehensive cost estimates for vertical construction projects in several markets.

Hybrid flexibility is available; compensation ranges from $115,000 to $125,000 with a comprehensive benefits package. You will collaborate with seasoned estimators and construction professionals to deliver high-quality cost data for clients.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of cost estimating experience in vertical construction/engineering projects preferred.
• Electrical cost estimating experience required.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficient with OST or similar takeoff software; MS Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide detailed quantity take-off and preliminary pricing for various construction project types.
• Review and interpret construction drawings to define project scope.
• Support development of comprehensive cost estimates/models for client projects.
• Facilitate document control, file management, and project collaboration.
• Adhere to QA/QC procedures to ensure quality deliverables.
• Research, solicit, and develop sources/vendors for cost data accuracy.
• Represent the team at local AEC industry events and network locally.

Responsibilities:

• Provide detailed quantity take-off and preliminary pricing for a variety of construction project types.
• Review and interpret construction drawings to understand the overall project scope.
• Support development of comprehensive cost estimates/models communicating the client’s project and strategic goals.
• Facilitate document control, file management, and project collaboration.
• Ensure a quality product is presented to the client by adhering to QA/QC procedures.
• Actively research, solicit, and develop sources/vendors to compile and maintain the accuracy of cost information.
• Communicate effectively through clear and concise means appropriate to the project goals.
• Attend and participate in local AEC industry events to build relationships and represent OCMI within the local construction community.

Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of cost estimating experience in vertical construction/engineering projects preferred.
• Electrical cost estimating experience required.
• Ability to understand and accurately interpret construction documents (drawings, specifications).
• Proficient user of On-Screen Takeoff (OST) software or similar quantity takeoff software preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or architecture, or 2 years of applicable construction trade experience in lieu of a degree, is preferred.
