Job summary

OCMI, Inc. (O'Connor Construction Management) in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Electrical-focused Cost Estimator to join our hybrid office. You will support development of electrical cost estimates and learn from a team of project controls professionals.

The role requires 1+ year in construction (prefer electrical), Excel proficiency, and a degree in construction/engineering/architecture or related trade experience. Compensation ranges from $65,000 to $80,000 annually with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year in construction, preferably with electrical scope.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with On-Screen Takeoff or similar take-off software is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or architecture; or 2 years of applicable construction trade experience in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and review of electrical cost estimates and quantity takeoffs.
• Develop comprehensive cost models communicating project goals and client requirements.
• Perform quantity take-off with the appropriate level of detail.
• Input estimate data into the specified software.
• Adhere to QA/QC procedures to ensure a quality client deliverable.
• Communicate project status clearly in writing and via graphics.
• Research and develop sources/vendors for cost information.
• Learn and grow in estimating and other project controls areas.

We're thrilled to welcome an Electrical-focused Cost Estimator to join our Charlotte, NC office! This hybrid role offers an opportunity to support the development of cost estimates for electrical systems while learning from and growing alongside a passionate team of project controls professionals.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and review of cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and pricing related to electrical systems.
• Complete a detailed review of all documentation and develop comprehensive cost estimates/models that communicate the client's project and strategic goals.
• Perform quantity take-off in a manner and level of detail consistent with the project goals and support the team.
• Input estimate data into the appropriate software
• Assure that a quality product is presented to the client through adherence to the company's QA/QC procedures.
• Communicate effectively through clear and concise means appropriate to the project's goals (verbal, written, and graphics)
• Actively research, solicit, and develop sources/vendors for compiling and maintaining the accuracy of cost information.
• Desire to learn, grow, and advance their skills in estimating and various other project controls.

Qualifications

• A minimum of one year of construction industry experience, preferably involving electrical scopes.
• Knowledge Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
• Prior working experience with On-Screen Takeoff (OST), or other industry-related take-off software, is a plus.
