Job summary

OCMI, Inc. in Las Vegas is seeking a Cost Estimator to join its growing team.

The hybrid position supports the cost estimating group across vertical construction projects and offers learning opportunities within a collaborative, community-minded firm. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing estimates for electrical systems, performing quantity takeoffs, inputting data into OST and other software, and maintaining QA/QC quality.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years cost estimating experience in vertical construction/engineering.
• Ability to understand and interpret construction drawings/documents.
• Proficient with OST or similar takeoff software; strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and review of cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and pricing related to electrical systems.
• Develop comprehensive cost estimates/models communicating client goals.
• Perform quantity take-off with appropriate detail to support the project.
• Input estimate data into the appropriate software.
• Ensure QA/QC quality before presenting to client.
• Communicate clearly (verbal, written, graphics) to project teams.
• Research and develop sources/vendors for cost information.
• Learn and grow in estimating and project controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and review of cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and pricing related to electrical systems.
• Complete a detailed review of all documentation and develop comprehensive cost estimates/models that communicate the client’s project and strategic goals.
• Perform quantity take-off in a manner and level of detail consistent with the project goals and support the team.
• Input estimate data into the appropriate software
• Assure that a quality product is presented to the client through adherence to the company’s QA/QC procedures.
• Communicate effectively through clear and concise means appropriate to the project’s goals (verbal, written, and graphics)
• Actively research, solicit, and develop sources/vendors for compiling and maintaining the accuracy of cost information.
• Desire to learn, grow, and advance their skills in estimating and various other project controls.

Qualifications

• 1 -3 years of cost estimating experience in vertical construction/engineering projects preferred.
• Ability to understand and accurately interpret construction documents (drawings, specifications).
• Proficient user of On-Screen Takeoff (OST) software or similar quantity takeoff software preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or architecture, or 2 years of applicable construction trade experience in lieu of a degree, is preferred.
