Job summary

US Farathane is seeking a Cost Estimator to support our Auburn Hills Technology Center. You will analyze drawings and data to determine tooling, materials, labor and capital requirements for new work and engineering changes, then prepare quotes for internal review.

In this role you will use cost estimating models, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and present pricing for approval to Senior Management. Strong math, CAD viewing skills, and manufacturing insight are valued.

Qualifications

• Ability to read technical drawings and evaluate data to determine efficient processes and tool construction.
• Understanding of plastic injection molding processes, assemblies, and related costs.
• Familiarity with automotive OEM forms and cost standards.
• Strong math background and ability to use cost estimating tools.
• Proficiency with Windows software (Outlook, Excel) and data organization.

US Farathane is hiring for a Cost Estimator, this role will support our Corporate Tech Center located on-site in Auburn Hills Michigan

Summary:

The Cost Estimator is responsible for processing new business quotations, engineering change quotations, cost returns directed by the Cost Development Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare cost estimates and price quotations on new work and engineering changes by reviewing data, drawings, or documents to determine required process, tooling, materials, labor and capital.
• Prepare internal and external requests for supporting costs.
• Utilize cost estimating models to complete and present pricing and investment for approval to Senior Management.
• Process and present and the approved pricing in the customer’s format.
• Create and maintain record of quotations in electronic database and files.

Qualifications:

• Ability to read technical drawings and evaluate data using PC based viewing software to determine most efficient process and tool construction while considering production volumes and part specification requirements.
• Understanding of plastic injection molding process and assemblies, mold construction and related costs.
• Familiar with automotive OEM Forms and cost standards
• Proficient with Windows Software (Outlook, Excel, etc.).
• Excellent communication and organization skills, along with strong math background
• Flexibility – ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet project deadlines.
• Team player within a progressive work environment
• Completion/Pursuit of a secondary degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Manufacturing or a related field
• Cost calculation, manufacturing, or related experience
• Working knowledge of CAD viewing software
