Job summary

Mount Indie is seeking a Cost Engineer in Jacksonville, FL to provide cost engineering support for NAVFAC Southeast. You will assist in planning, design, construction, and maintenance of Navy and Marine Corps facilities, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliant designs.

You will apply cost engineering concepts across MILCON, demolition, maintenance, and space utilization, delivering analyses and recommendations with clear communication of results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering, or architecture, from an ABET- or NAAB-accredited program.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional cost engineering experience for new construction, including renovation cost engineering experience.

Job description

Mount Indie is seeking a Cost Engineer to provide technical design support for NAVFAC Southeast in Jacksonville, Florida. The Cost Engineer will be responsible for providing cost engineering support for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of Navy and Marine Corps facilities. This role supports mission-critical infrastructure efforts and requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, code-compliant designs that meet NAVFAC and DoD standards.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Provide independent, timely, and professional cost engineering support, services, and consultation for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Supported Commands, including minor works projects, specific projects, special projects, military construction (MILCON), demolition, maintenance, space utilization, and facilities development.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering and architecture as it relates to cost.
  • Participate in planning, budgeting, designing, and construction of substantial new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for a variety of complex military construction projects.
  • Participate in conferences with project stakeholders and collaborate with other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure system coordination and integration with specific project requirements.
  • Produce written results of analyses, consolidate findings of others, and evaluate recommendations and facts.
  • Communicate effectively through oral presentations of proposed designs and study results.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain NACI/CAC eligibility required.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing detailed analyses, drawings, and cost estimates for DoD or NAVFAC facilities or large-scale commercial facilities.
  • Professional knowledge and skill applying the theories, concepts, principles, computer system applications, and methodology of Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering as they relate to the full range of construction activities, including cost, labor, and/or materials studies, and evaluation of cost estimates and contract change orders.
  • Professional knowledge of cost engineering concepts, theories, principles, practices, and techniques necessary to plan, design, construct, and maintain a wide range of shore-based engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of DoD and Navy cost engineering criteria and policy.
  • Knowledge of local, state, federal, and foreign country laws, codes, and other statutory requirements affecting cost engineering design throughout the NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic AOR.
  • Knowledge of related architectural and engineering fields and their associated impacts on cost engineering design.
  • Knowledge and experience with Autodesk software, Microsoft Office products, cost engineering software, and other applicable DoD computer systems and software.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, planning, and project management techniques, including the ability to coordinate the work of others and lead teams.
  • Knowledge of and skill to work in full compliance with Safety Policy and Guidance, including use of personal protective equipment.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering, or architecture, from an ABET- or NAAB-accredited program.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional cost engineering experience for new construction, including renovation cost engineering experience.
  • 3-5 years of prior work experience in design and/or construction fields preferred, in addition to 5-10 years of cost engineering experience.
  • Certification as a Certified Cost Professional (CCP) issued by the American Association of Cost Engineers, or Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) issued by the DoD, desirable but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and crouch, and remain in a stationary position/sit at least 60% of the time.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, and phone.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Capable of lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • Ability to understand the speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand, and talk or hear both in person and by telephone.
PAY
  • $59.00 – 71.00 / Hour
