Job summary

Akkodis is seeking an Electrical Engineer - Hardware Engineer for a 2-year W2 contract on site in Greensboro, NC. The role focuses on cost-reduction of PCBs, redesigning PCAs, and maintaining performance and quality. Strong PCB design experience and BOM optimization are required.

Pay range is $50.00 to $60.00 per hour on W2, negotiable based on experience and location. On-site work with emphasis on DFM/DFA, testing, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or closely related discipline.
• 3+ years hardware development experience with cost-reduction projects or product redesigns.
• Proficient in PCB design tools, Cadence preferred.
• Strong understanding of PCB fabrication, SMT, and assembly costs.

Responsibilities

• Hardware Architecture & Schematic Redesign: analyze schematics to consolidate architectures and replace expensive ICs.
• PCB Layout Optimization: redesign layouts to optimize board area and minimize traces.
• BOM & Component Engineering: audit components for cost-effective swaps and secondary sourcing.
• Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFM/DFA): collaborate with manufacturing engineers to optimize panels and assembly.
• Prototyping & Bench Testing: bring up, debug, and characterize cost-reduced hardware prototypes.
