Job summary

Hornbeck Offshore Services is seeking a Cost Controller II to focus on project cost estimating, forecasting, tracking and analysis in Houston, TX. Key duties include cost tracking for commercial projects, vessel cost management, and close coordination with project managers and supply chain.

Required two+ years in project or cost accounting, with strong Excel skills; knowledge of Oracle/Workday is preferred. Office environment with standard business hours.

Qualifications

• Two or more years' experience in project/cost accounting, preferably oil & gas or marine.
• Knowledge of cost tracking, forecasting and billing processes.
• Strong Excel and Windows-based software skills.

Responsibilities

• Cost tracking and cost estimating for projects from initiation to close-out.
• Vessel cost tracking including dry docks and upgrades (Capex AFEs).
• Assist with requisitioning, receiving, and supplier invoice approvals.
• Review P&L for discrepancies and assist in monthly/quarterly reporting.
• Interface with Billings/Collections for customer invoicing and billing milestones.
• Prepare flash reports and ASC 606 revenue reporting input as needed.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Cost Controller II role will act as a primary focus for project cost estimating, forecasting, tracking and analysis

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cost Tracking
• Cost estimating and tracking for commercial projects from initiation to close-out
• Vessel cost tracking including dry docks and upgrades (Capex AFEs)
• Assistance with project Requisitioning / Receiving / Corrections, working directly with Project Managers and Supply Chain
• Assist AP department with approvals and allocation of PO to Supplier invoices
• Review and allocation of Offshore Personnel time sheets and expense reports
• Billings
• Tracking of billable activities and billing milestones on contracts
• Interfacing with Billings / Collections department to produce and review customer invoices
• Financial Reporting and Analysis
• Assist in preparation of flash reports
• Review of P&L for obvious discrepancies
• Assist Cost Controller Supervisor in the presentation of monthly / quarterly P&L to Operations management
• Job / marine cost analysis
• Assist on quarterly filing reports including Backlog and ASC 606 revenue reporting

COMPETENCIES:

• Bachelor's Degree desired in Finance/Accounting, although High School Diploma with prior project/cost accounting experience is sufficient upon review and approval from management
• Two or more year's experience required in project/cost accounting preferably in oil and gas, marine or the construction industry
• Knowledge of Microsoft office products; strong Excel experience is required
