Job summary

EDG Inc in New Orleans is seeking a Cost Control Specialist II to support project teams by performing cost control activities across a portfolio of projects. You will validate and report project costs, calculate cost accruals, and assist with contracts and invoice processing.

The role requires a high attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and experience as a cost analyst. You will work within the Project Controls department and may travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Required: HighSchool Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience as a project cost analyst or similar role.
• Working knowledge of cost control software; ability to learn new software platforms quickly.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to learn new software platforms quickly.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels.
• Availability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Occasional travel to client sites.
• Ability to work overtime as needed based on project.

Responsibilities

• Work with all relevant project and discipline personnel to prepare project cost expectations and tracking tools.
• Understand all relevant project documents pertaining to the preparation of cost control plans and reports.
• Ensuring the integrity of accounting information and providing analytical services for transmission and substation projects.
• Monitoring, maintaining, and completing key reports and providing analytical functions towards capital projects utilizing data and other critical deliverables.
• Collecting, evaluating, and reporting capital budget, project cost, work order closings and variance reporting.
• Initiate, monitor, maintain and close out of capital work orders in all legal entities.
• Create and analyze capital budgets, financial forecasts, reporting of actual financial results and variance explanations.
• Work with accounting on reconciling invoices.
• Assists in the preparation of accruals.
• Additional duties as assigned.
