Job summary

MAV Project Services in Louisiana is seeking a Cost Control professional to support refinery turnaround projects. You will develop budgets, monitor costs, ensure proper cost coding, and partner with procurement and accounting to optimize spend.

The role requires 3+ years in cost control or project controls within industrial settings, with refinery or capital project exposure. Familiarity with EcoSys/Prism is a plus; certification enhances prospects. Benefits include PTO and 401(k) matching.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in cost control, project controls, or financial analysis within industrial/refining environments.
• Experience with refinery, petrochemical, or manufacturing turnarounds or capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed turnaround budgets and cost forecasts.
• Track and report committed, accrued, and actual costs in real time.
• Ensure cost coding compliance across all purchase orders, invoices, and work orders.
• Lead cost trending, variance analysis, and forecast-to-complete reporting.
• Establish and manage cost control tools, dashboards, and tracking systems.
• Support turnaround planning teams with financial input during scope development and gate reviews.
• Work closely with procurement to validate contract spend and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Reconcile vendor invoices against purchase orders and approved work.
• Support month-end and closeout reporting, including lessons learned and final cost analysis.
• Assist in development and implementation of cost control policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Participate in risk analysis related to cost escalation, delays, and contingency usage.
• Collaborate with Accounting to ensure proper cost allocations and financial reporting alignment.

• Previous experience supporting major ($10MM+) turnaround
