Job summary

Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking a Cost Analyst to uncover the story behind numbers, perform data-driven cost estimation, and develop recommendations for smarter decisions in Navy acquisitions. You will model lifecycle costs, conduct what-if analyses, and deliver actionable insights to leadership.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze programmatic and cost data, communicate findings, and support program meetings that influence budgeting and procurement.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of cost estimation, analysis, or forecasting experience.
  • Experience developing metrics and data trends across an acquisition lifecycle.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing cost and technical data for models.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Project).
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and schedule analysis.
  • Ability to work in a classified environment; TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
  • Experience supporting Navy Acquisition Program Offices.
  • Experience in risk and uncertainty analysis.
  • Knowledge of FAR/DFAR regulations.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Master’s in Research, Systems Engineering, Applied Math, Data Analytics, Data Science, or Business.
  • DAU Business – Cost Estimating or PMP Certification.
  • CCEA or PCEA Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cost estimation, analysis, and forecasting to support programs.

As a cost analyst, you’re passionate about uncovering the story behind the numbers through diving into the root cause of a challenge, analyzing data, and developing recommendations that drive smarter decisions. You will support Navy acquisitions by evaluating data and developing analytical approaches to support cost estimation, financial modeling, and program assessment. Your work will shape data‑driven strategies using methods such as statistical analysis, cost‑benefit analysis, lifecycle cost estimation, and what‑if scenario modeling to deliver actionable insights.

You collaborate with cross‑functional teams consisting of technical experts, acquisition professionals, and industry experts to analyze and interpret programmatic and cost data. You help develop cohesive presentations to communicate findings, collaborate with stakeholders, and contribute to program meetings that inform acquisition and budgeting decisions. In this role you will apply modeling and measurement techniques to evaluate system affordability, readiness, and risk.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience performing detailed cost estimation, analysis, or forecasting

  • Possession of excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Master’s degree in Research, Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Data Analytics, Data Science, or Business
  • Defense Acquisition University Business – Cost Estimating or PMP Certification
  • Certified Cost Estimator Analyst (CCEA) or Professional Cost Estimator Analyst (PCEA) Certification
Clearance
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must have TS/SCI clearance.
Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $62,000.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). Salary is determined by location, education, experience, and organizational requirements.
