Job summary

The University of New Orleans is seeking a Cost Allocation Accountant to support the Medicaid Support department by developing, implementing and monitoring cost allocation systems for LDH. You will gather data, run monthly cost allocation reports and maintain related financial records.

You will also assist with grant setup, indirect cost allocations, and journal entries; collaborate with OPH PI/PD and auditors, ensuring compliance and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree plus 3 years of professional accounting experience.
• Minimum 2 years professional accounting experience.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; effective organizational and time management skills.
• Great attention to detail and follow up.
• Ability to manage projects, assignments, and competing priorities.
• Proficient in Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Gather and compile detailed cost information statistics from various departments to ensure information is received timely and verified before entry into the accounting system.
• Run Cost Allocation reports monthly and review for alignment; identify outliers for trends or potential problems in financial data.
• Maintain accurate financial records related to all cost allocation distributions.
• Prepare and record journal entries related to cost allocation activities.
• Assist with setup of new grants and indirect cost allocations; prepare and enter journal entries for corrections.
• Meet with OPH PI/PD when a grant is awarded to review responsibilities for cost allocation management and reporting; participate in follow-up meetings to close out costs.
