Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Previous experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with accounting, manufacturing, purchasing, and operations teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to the cost accounting team while maintaining accurate and consistent financial reporting
• Maintain the integrity of inventory valuation, standard costs, and manufacturing cost data
• Analyze material, labor, overhead, and production variances
• Evaluate purchasing trends, material pricing, and production activity to support cost updates and financial accuracy
• Analyze inventory balances and identify potential excess or obsolete inventory exposures requiring reserve recommendations
• Prepare month-end journal entries, inventory reconciliations, and supporting accounting analyses
• Prepare cost center, inventory, and variance reports and provide meaningful explanations of results
• Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to investigate and resolve cost variances
• Support cycle counts and physical inventory activities and review inventory control procedures
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, warranty reserve reviews, audit requests, and special accounting projects
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting procedures, and reporting requirements
• Identify and implement process improvements that strengthen financial accuracy and operational efficiency

Job title: Cost Accounting Supervisor

Location: Livermore, CA

Pay/Salary Range: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Contract type: Full-Time, Onsite, Temporary to hire

We are seeking an experienced Cost Accounting Supervisor to join a manufacturing organization in Livermore. This role will oversee cost accounting activities, maintain accurate inventory and product costing, analyze manufacturing variances, and support month-end financial reporting.
