Job summary

CooperDouglas is partnering with a leading Southern California manufacturing company to hire a Cost Accounting Manager. You will build and manage product costing across multiple plants, including labor rates, overhead, BOMs, and routings, to support margin reporting.

The role drives standard costing, variance analyses, and perpetual inventory improvements, collaborating with operations on labor standards and time studies.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of accounting experience with a strong cost accounting background in manufacturing.
• Public accounting experience, Big 4 preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of inventory accounting under US GAAP.
• Hands-on ERP experience. Implementation experience is a plus.
• Experience in aerospace, defense or other complex manufacturing is a plus.
• Advanced Excel and comfort working with large data sets.
• A builder mindset. You like creating processes, not just running them.

Responsibilities

• Lead product costing across multiple manufacturing sites, including labor and overhead rates, BOMs and routings.
• Implement standard costing and analyze standard to actual variances each month.
• Improve inventory accuracy and help move sites to a perpetual inventory system.
• Partner with operations to set labor standards, including time studies.
• Own inventory and cost of sales for month-end close and audits, including inventory reserves.
• Report margin and variance results to the CFO and plant leaders in a way that drives decisions.
• Support pricing and quoting with accurate product costs.
• Help set up and improve costing in the ERP.
