Job summary

Gellert Global Group in New Jersey is seeking a highly motivated Cost Accounting Manager who will own the financial integrity of inventory and COGS. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, you will oversee costing, landed costs, and monthly close for inventory across the business.

The role requires 5+ years in cost accounting with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity, deep knowledge of US GAAP, ERP systems (Infor M3 preferred), and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and strong knowledge of US GAAP.
  • 5+ years of cost accounting with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience with inventory management and COGS.
  • ERP system experience, preferably Infor M3.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly close for inventory and COGS, including journal entries.
  • Ensure accurate inventory costing including landed cost and variances.
  • Monitor inventory movements and write-offs and apply proper accounting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners on reporting.
  • Execute PO closures and drive corrective actions.
  • Strengthen internal controls and improve costing processes.
  • Identify and implement cost maintenance improvements and automation.
  • Reconcile inventory accounts to the general ledger.
  • Analyze gross margin for accuracy.
  • Support audits and prepare schedules.

Summary/Objective:

Gellert Global Group is seeking a highly motivated Cost Accounting Manager who will report to the Vice President of Finance and will own the financial integrity of our inventory and cost of goods sold across the business. This role oversees key processes like inventory purchase accruals, inventory movements and costing methodologies while identifying opportunities to improve and standardize inventory and COGS accounting from the group. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and demonstrated knowledge of technical and operational inventory accounting are required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Lead the monthly close process for inventory and COGS, including journal entries, reconciliations, and internal reporting;
  • Ensure accurate inventory costing and valuation, including landed cost, freight, duties, variances and other COGS components;
  • Monitor and analyze inventory movements, including in transit, write offs, and ensure appropriate accounting treatment;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to implement inventory reporting tools and resolve issues;
  • Execute purchase order closures and errors for corrective action;
  • Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes;
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve cost maintenance workflows, controls, automation & reporting
  • Reconcile inventory accounts to the general ledger.
  • Analyze gross margin for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support the financial audit, including preparation of schedules that support the financial statements;
  • Support physical inventory or cycle count processes and ensure results are reflected properly and timely in the financial statements;
  • Perform analytics to collaborate with operational team on cost components;
  • Review and/or prepare monthly journal entries; and
  • Contribute to the completion of special assignments as required.
  • Serve as primary escalation point for cost related issues impacting inventory costing
  • Lead, coach and develop cost accountant and other team members responsible for cost maintenance activities.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting;
  • 5+ years of cost accounting experience, with at least 2 years within a managerial costing role;
  • Strong understanding of USGAAP;
  • Background in inventory and cost accounting;
  • ERP system experience;
  • Advanced Excel skills;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Skilled in research and data analysis;
  • Attention to detail and sense of urgency;
  • Self-driven to meet deadlines and achieve goals;
  • Capability to work independently;
  • Flexibility to multi-task and adjust to priorities;
  • Ability to problem solve and work under pressure to meet deadlines;
  • Infor M3 ERP is a plus
Salary Range:

$110,000 - $130,000, plus bonus. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Our company will be relocating to a new corporate headquarters in Madison, NJ in Q1 of 2027. Candidates should be comfortable with this upcoming change in location.
