Job summary

Brandon & Clark, Inc. is seeking a Cost Accountant in Lubbock, TX to support the full accounting cycle, drive month-end close, and strengthen accounts payable and reconciliations as the finance team scales.

The role reports to the Executive Director of Finance and collaborates with the broader finance team. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in accounting and 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with strong GAAP knowledge, Excel, and ERP proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting principles.
• Advanced Excel and ERP software proficiency, with strong data analytics and cross-functional communication skills.
• Experience managing month-end close under deadline pressure.
• Hand-on accounts payable experience including PO matching and invoice processing.
• Experience submitting invoices through Ariba or similar portals.

Responsibilities

• Perform accrual-based accounting in accordance with GAAP.
• Own portions of the month-end close process and meet deadlines.
• Support journal entries, accruals, and GL maintenance.
• Manage accounts payable including PO matching and invoice processing.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations (bank and balance sheet).
• Assist with audit preparation and supporting documentation.
• Track direct materials, labor, and overhead for cost accounting and budgeting.
• Forecast fixed and variable expenses to build operational budgets.
• Perform variance analysis between budgeted and actuals.
• Support pricing strategy to help determine profitable selling prices.
