Job summary

Hood Packaging Corporation is seeking a Cost Accountant for its Arden Hills, MN location. The role focuses on calculating and tracking operating costs, analyzing cost drivers, and improving cost practices across labor, materials and overhead.

The cost accountant will manage standard costing, monitor inventory accounts, assist with month-end close, and support budgeting and reporting requirements while adhering to SQF and GMP standards.

Qualifications

• Degree (4yr) in business or accounting; 1-3 years in an MRP environment OR 2-year degree with 5-7 years in an MRP environment.
• Professional accounting designation or working towards one.

Responsibilities

• Act as sole custodian of the standard costing system.
• Analyze actual costs against standard costs and recommend actions.
• Calculate machine hour, direct labor, burden and overhead rates for cost formulation.
• Ensure integrity of costing data and timely job close procedures.
• Maintain routings and structures in MFG/PRO with Product Maintenance Supervisor.
• Identify issues from product attributes and report findings to Manufacturing and Marketing.
