Responsibilities

Cost Accountant I

Position Summary & Primary Purpose

Reporting to the Manager of Cost Accounting, as a part of a cross‑functional team, this person supports forecasting, cost and project accounting responsibilities.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Daily processing of contract orders and changes
• Monthly review and forecasting of less complex projects and other short‑cycle orders
• Maintain project budgets and revenue recognition in ERP systems
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures (JSOX)
• Testing and implementation of special projects as required
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Meet regularly with Operations personnel to gauge project financial performance
• Publish various managerial accounting reports
• Process improvement

Basic Broad Knowledge

• English Language
• Basic knowledge of cost and US GAAP accounting principles
• Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel)

Education & Experience

• BS degree in accounting, finance or related field and/or equivalent experience in a cost accounting role in a manufacturing and/or Engineer‑to‑order environment.
• Experience with manufacturing environment a plus.
• Experience with SAP a plus

Demonstrated Physical Abilities

Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.
