Job summary

CFS is seeking a Cost Accountant to maintain and improve standard costing for our manufacturing operations in Chicago. You will analyze variances, allocate costs across projects, and support month-end close and financial reporting with a focus on cost control.

The role requires 5+ years of manufacturing cost accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and ERP system expertise. US citizenship is required; on-site position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of manufacturing cost accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with manufacturing ERP systems.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance standard costing systems for manufacturing operations.
• Analyze manufacturing variances and provide actionable insights to leadership.
• Track and allocate costs across R&D projects and government-funded contracts.
• Support inventory valuation, WIP accounting, monthly close, and financial reporting activities.
• Prepare project profitability, budget-to-actual, and cost analysis reporting.
• Assist with internal controls, audits, and intercompany cost allocation processes.
