Job summary

Ledgent is seeking a Cost Accountant in San Jose, CA, onsite, to own cost analysis, reporting, and cross-functional partnership with operations and leadership. You’ll focus on product and labor costs, month-end closes, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to drive profitability.

The ideal candidate has 3–7 years in cost accounting or manufacturing finance, a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, and CPA/CMA progress is a plus. Advanced Excel and ERP experience are required.

• 3-7 years of Cost Accounting, Manufacturing Finance, or Financial Analysis experience.
• CPA or CMA designation (or progress toward certification) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze product, labor, and operational costs.

• Conduct variance analysis and explain key drivers impacting profitability.

What You’ll Be Doing

Cost Accounting & Reporting

• Maintain and analyze product, labor, and operational costs
• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end cost accounting activities
• Conduct variance analysis and explain key drivers impacting profitability
• Support inventory valuation, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls

Financial Analysis & Business Support

• Analyze profitability across products, projects, and business segments
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
• Build financial models to support business decisions and investments
• Deliver meaningful insights to improve margins and reduce costs
• Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through data analysis

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and leadership teams
• Help identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
• Support inventory management and cycle count activities
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc analysis

Systems & Process Improvement

• Enhance reporting processes and improve data accuracy
• Create dashboards and management reports
• Support ERP systems and reporting tools
• Participate in audit preparation and documentation

What We’re Looking For

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3-7 years of Cost Accounting, Manufacturing Finance, or Financial Analysis experience
• CPA or CMA designation (or progress toward certification) is a plus

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of:
• Standard Costing
• Variance Analysis
• Budgeting & Forecasting
• Financial Reporting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with ERP systems preferred
• Power BI and data analytics experience is a plus
