Job summary

EMIT Technologies is seeking an analytical Cost Accountant to support financial reporting and cost management. You will prepare standard costs, analyze variances, and assist with budgeting and forecasting across Operations, Production, Procurement, and Finance.

The role emphasizes inventory accuracy, cost control, and process improvements, with a strong requirement for ERP experience (SAP/Oracle/Dynamics/NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• 3 to 5 years of cost accounting or manufacturing accounting experience.
• Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting.
• Experience maintaining standard costs and analyzing variances across materials, labor, overhead, and inventory.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite) is required.
• Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis) are required.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate complex financial data clearly and work across departments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze, and maintain standard costs for products and services.
• Monitor manufacturing costs, inventory valuations, and cost variances with timely analysis.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities for inventory and cost accounting.
• Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate discrepancies for accurate reporting.
• Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs and recommend improvements.
• Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and cost assumptions.
• Develop and distribute cost, variance, and profitability reports for management.
• Provide actionable interpretations of financial data to business leaders.
• Support inventory cycle counts and physical inventory processes.
• Collaborate with Operations, Purchasing, and Production to improve cost controls.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve profitability.
• Maintain accurate cost accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Assist internal and external audits with documentation and reconciliations.

Job description

We’re looking for an analytical, detail-oriented Cost Accountant to support EMIT Technologies’ financial reporting and cost management activities. In this role, you’ll prepare and maintain cost accounting records, analyze manufacturing and operational costs, reconcile inventory and cost variances, and support budgeting and forecasting. You’ll work closely with Operations, Production, Procurement, and Finance to identify cost‑saving opportunities, improve profitability, and ensure compliance with EMIT Technologies policies and internal controls.

Key Accountabilities:

• Prepare, analyze, and maintain standard costs for products and services
• Monitor manufacturing costs, inventory valuations, and cost variances, providing accurate and timely analysis
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities related to inventory and cost accounting
• Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs and recommend process improvements
• Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, financial projections, and related cost assumptions
• Develop and distribute cost, variance, and profitability reports to support management decision‑making
• Interpret financial and operational data and provide meaningful recommendations to business leaders
• Support inventory cycle counts and physical inventory processes
• Partner with Operations, Purchasing, and Production to improve cost controls and operational efficiencies
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve processes, and increase profitabilityMaintain accurate cost accounting records and supporting documentation
• Ensure compliance with EMIT Technologies accounting policies and internal control procedures
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation, reconciliations, and analyses
• Perform additional accounting and finance responsibilities based on EMIT Technologies needs

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• 3 to 5 years of experience in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, or a related accounting role
• Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and financial reporting
• Experience maintaining standard costs and analyzing material, labor, overhead, inventory, and manufacturing variances
• Experience using an ERP system such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar software required
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis, required
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial and inventory records
• Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate meaningful findings and recommendations
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
• High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information
• Self-motivated and solutions‑oriented, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Pay Range

$65,000 - $80,000 USD
