Job summary

Flex is seeking a Cost Accountant in Salt Lake City, UT. This role reports to the Director of Finance and handles accounting records, variance analysis, and advisory duties related to financial statements.

Daily responsibilities include P&L reviews, budget preparation with operations, and ensuring timely, accurate close and reporting in compliance with governance standards.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a B. Com / B.C. S / M. Com / MBA / BBA/ BBM, any other commerce and Accounts Stream degrees.
• Typically requires 3-4 years of related experience.
• A professional certification is preferred - CPA, CFP, CMA, APICS, CA, or CGA.

Responsibilities

• Perform periodic review of financial statements and postings according to policy.
• Analyze variances between actuals and forecasts and adjust books accordingly.
• Collect business reasons for variances and report them.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts with sub-ledger and schedules.
• Identify potential risks and mitigate them with appropriate actions.
• Ensure timely close and reporting activities with accuracy.
• Assist in forecasting and budgeting for related accounts.
• Collaborate with Operations to improve metrics.
• Adhere to Controllers Handbook and regulatory reporting requirements.

The Cost Accountant will be based in Salt Lake City, Utah, reporting to Director, Finance.

The Cost Accountant will be in charge of preparing and maintaining accounting records and researching and interpreting accounting records to give advice or prepare statements.

What a typical day looks like:

• Perform periodic review of Profit and Loss (P&L) account to ensure that all the postings are done as per the defined Policy, Process and Procedures.
• Compare the Actual with Forecast / Quote and ensure that the variances are properly. researched and required adjustment postings are done in the books.
• Collect the business reasons for the remaining variances and report appropriately.
• Reconcile all the scoped Balance sheet accounts with sub ledger/manual schedule to identify the variance, if any and ensure that those variances are properly dealt in the books of accounts.
• Review the accounts on periodic basis to identify any potential risk and ensure that the same is mitigated properly.
• Ensure that all the book close related /reporting activities are properly planned and executed on timely basis with utmost accuracy.
• Work with relevant teams to prepare the Forecast / Budget for the related accounts.
• Work along with Operations team to improve the business / operational metrics.
• Be familiar with relevant Accounting, regulatory and reporting requirements in the Controllers Handbook and RCTS.

• A professional certification is preferred - A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), America Production Inventory Control Society (APICS), Chartered Accountant (CA), or a Certified General Accountant (CGA).
