We’re currently hiring for a Cost Accountant to join a dynamic accounting team in St. Helena, CA. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and a passion for inventory and cost accounting, especially within the wine industry.

Role and Responsibilities

General Accounting
Maintain month-end inventory reconciliations for dry goods and finished goods.
Analyze and communicate wine cost variances for budgeting and reconciliation.
Prepare reconciliations for grapes, bulk wine, and barrels across production facilities.
Track and reconcile bulk wine storage costs.
Communicate monthly production costs and variances to management.
Support Controller and CFO with financial reporting and analysis.
Cost finished goods bottled monthly.
Review packaging component costs and propose standard cost changes.
Maintain accurate inventory reporting for packaging and goods.
Analyze cost variances and provide insights.
Reconcile monthly physical inventory counts.
Prepare and post journal entries.
Oversee inventory item setup and bill of materials.
Maintain retail pricing tables and historical wine COGS breakdowns.
Provide cost accounting support to internal teams.

Skills and Experience

BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5+ years of experience in general and/or cost accounting (wine industry experience a plus).
Knowledge of AMS (Advanced Management Software) preferred.
Strong understanding of GAAP.
Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams.
