Major Responsibilities

• Primary duties of adjunct faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Adjunct instructional faculty are required to be available to students outside of class.
• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
• Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
• Teach all scheduled classes.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.

• Cosmetology; Esthetics; Nail Technician; Barber Cross-over.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Any Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR
• Any Associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR
• The equivalent;

• Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.

Desired Qualifications

• License in Cosmetology OR Esthetics Equivalency

Licenses

• California Community College Instructor Credential in Cosmetology & Barbering (valid for life)

Foreign Degree

Foreign Degree: Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC. A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with your online application.

SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT:

• Submit "official" college transcripts as stated on application (even if a degree is not a requirement for this position).
• Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (certificate must be renewed every 4 years).
• Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan at the district's expense (clearance must be received prior to first day of employment).
• Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
