Stylist Job Description
The stylist is the most important position in the salon. We are very proud of our stylists and believe that our stylists are the best in the business. The stylist is responsible for servicing guests in a friendly, professional way and understanding that the guest's satisfaction is of utmost importance. The stylist will accomplish this by following the Brand Standards and utilizing a thorough consultation procedure to ensure that every guest's expectations are exceeded, reflecting our commitment to excellence.
Essential Functions
- Provide quality services including an exceptional client consultation (Brand Standards) and a price quote for services.
- Educate and recommend products to help guests maintain their hairstyles between visits.
- Build relationships that contribute to teamwork and goal achievement.
- Contribute positively to the salon culture and work environment.
- Charge correctly for services and products, including discounts.
- Meet or exceed minimum productivity standards as established by your Salon Leader.
- Use business building tools and programs to increase sales and guest retention.
- Work the lease line to promote the salon’s business and attract new clients.
- Demonstrate good time management, judgment, and multi-tasking skills.
- Perform all services competently, efficiently, and professionally.
- Handle salon duties such as payment processing, answering phones, taking appointments, stocking, and cleaning.
- Control salon operating costs related to inventory.
- Attend work consistently and punctually, following all policies regarding time off.
- Maintain current Cosmetology, Natural Hair, or Barber's License.
- Complete all required technical training sessions.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including opening/closing procedures and daily banking.
Qualifications
- Valid Cosmetology, Natural Hair, or Barber's License in your state.
- Strong guest service skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Computer proficiency, including POS systems.
- Professional appearance and presence.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Effective communication with team and guests.
- Ability to observe and focus on details.
- Frequent standing and walking.
- Exposure to chemicals and fragrances.
- Repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Occasional climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs., reaching, twisting, and bending.
- Travel as needed for training or between locations.
