Job summary

Veritiv in California seeks an experienced individual to observe, dismantle, repair, and maintain mechanical devices and equipment. You will perform precision tasks with metalworking tools and coordinate parts procurement while ensuring safety and quality.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, strong math and English skills, and 1-2 years of related experience. Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is expected; ownership of basic tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Proficient Math and English skills.
• Demonstrated competence in secretarial skills (typing, computer, word processor, copier, fax).
• Minimum 1-2 years of related experience and knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Examines form and texture or parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts; installs parts; lubricates and cleans parts.
• Starts devices to test their performance.
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Initiates purchase request for parts and machines; repairs electrical equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
