Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking an experienced Corrosion Engineer for our client in Kokomo, Indiana. The role supports cathodic protection design, field testing, commissioning, and corrosion control across pipeline facilities.

The position is a 1-year W2 contract with benefits. Candidates should have CP2 certification, 3–5+ years of field testing and design, and readiness for extensive field work, including travel.

Qualifications

  • CP2 certification required.
  • 3–5+ years of cathodic protection field testing and design experience.
  • 2-year Engineering/Technical degree required; 4-year degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of CUI and NDE techniques (UT, RT, PT, AUT, PAUT, RTR).
  • Experience interpreting P&IDs, equipment drawings, and project packages.

Responsibilities

  • Perform project design reviews and verify corrosion control requirements are incorporated into engineering designs.
  • Create sketches and drawings for rectifiers, anodes, test stations, and other CP facilities.
  • Conduct site visits, field verification, and final walkdowns during pre-construction, construction, and project completion.
  • Perform cathodic protection field testing including soil potential, soil resistivity, current facility testing, and close interval surveys.
  • Coordinate with CP commissioning contractors, providing technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Analyze commissioning and field data to identify abnormalities and required follow-up actions.
  • Support pipeline commissioning activities, including moisture and odorant monitoring.

Job description

Our client, a leader in gas & electric utilities, is seeking an experienced Corrosion Engineer to support cathodic protection design, testing, commissioning, and corrosion control activities in Kokomo, Indiana.

**1-year W2 contract with benefits**

This role will focus on cathodic protection engineering, project design review, field testing, site verification, and commissioning support across new and existing pipeline facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform project design reviews and verify corrosion control requirements are incorporated into engineering designs.
  • Create sketches and drawings for rectifiers, anodes, test stations, and other cathodic protection facilities.
  • Conduct site visits, field verification, and final walkdowns during pre-construction, construction, and project completion.
  • Perform cathodic protection field testing, including soil potential, soil resistivity, current facility testing, and close interval surveys.
  • Coordinate with cathodic protection commissioning contractors, providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Analyze commissioning and field data to identify abnormalities and required follow-up actions.

Required Qualifications

  • AMPP/NACE Cathodic Protection Level 2 (CP2) certification.
  • 3–5+ years of cathodic protection field testing and design experience.
  • 2-year Engineering or Technical degree required; 4-year degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) and NDE techniques, including UT, RT, PT, AUT, PAUT, and RTR.
  • Experience interpreting P&IDs, equipment drawings, engineering drawings, and project packages.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding field work, including walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel by automobile and stay overnight at customer sites during the week and for multi-day assignments.
