Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Wind Farm Operations Technician in Texas to support large corrective activities for RWE Americas Operations. You will perform on-site maintenance, assist with up-tower gearbox replacements, and operate tools safely at remote wind farms.

Travel up to five weeks at a time with return-home rotations; pass a fit-for-duty exam every two years. A High School Diploma is required; CDL preferred and 2+ years in power generation maintenance expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years total experience, with at least 1 year in operations/maintenance of power generation facilities.
• CDL preferred; passes fit-for-duty medical examination every 2 years.
• Able to work independently, safely, and with strong attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel up to 5 weeks at a time and maintain weight limit of 270 lbs.

Job description

• Report to, assist, and support the Supervisor of Large Correctives department in managing and coordinating large corrective activities for RWE Americas Operations
• Perform operations and maintenance activities safely according to wind farm site policies and procedures
• Perform up-tower major component replacements on multiple turbine manufacturers, including GE, Siemens, Vestas, Gamesa and/or Mitsubishi
• Assist with transportation, setup, and operation of up-tower gearbox replacement tools
• Ensure proper storage, maintenance, and handling of Large Corrective tools and equipment
• Travel up to 5 weeks at a time with at least one week return-home rotation
• Work independently and safely at remote wind farm locations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred
• Minimum 2 years of overall experience, including at least 1 year in operations and/or maintenance of power generation and related facilities
• Self-motivated and able to make cost-efficient decisions and take necessary actions without specific directions
• High standards of integrity, honor, ethics, safety, productivity, and attention to detail
• Knowledge of and experience using hand and power tools
• Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must pass a fit-for-duty medical examination upon hiring and every 2 years thereafter
• Must maintain a body weight of 270 lbs or less
• Ability to push, pull, and lift tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work safely in extreme environments, including hot sun and cold conditions
• Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday
• Ability and willingness to travel to and from assigned job sites
• Flexibility and full range of movement in confined spaces
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States
